Wayne's World, one of the best rock-centric movies ever made, turns 25 this year. The film's impact still resonates today for a number of reasons and who could forget the classic "We're not worthy" scene with shock rock legend Alice Cooper?

Despite having a relatively small role in the overall scope of the film, the scene where Wayne and Garth drop to their knees, bowing as they say, "We're not worthy, we're scum," is one of legend and has forever been linked with Cooper since. Looking back on Wayne's World with Billboard, the singer first commented on how quotable the movie is and elaborated on that scene.

Knowing he was going to be performing "Feed My Frankenstein," Cooper mentioned that actor and writer Mike Meyers asked if the singer wanted to do some lines for the movie as well, which he obliged. After receiving five pages of dialogue, Meyers told Cooper they would be filming in 20 minutes. "I think we did it in two takes," the frontman said.

Mentioning the aforementioned scene, Cooper said Meyers (Wayne) and Dana Carvey (Garth) "were doing everything they could to get me to break up. But they didn’t realize my iron will, so I went right through that dialogue and I think I surprised them. But if you would have seen the outtakes of 'We’re not worthy, we’re scum,' it goes on for like five or six minutes. And it just gets vile. Whoever owns those outtakes owns a little treasure."

The words have been inescapable since 1992 as fans have been quick to reenact the scene during chance run-ins with Cooper. "Airports is when everybody does, 'We’re not worthy!' I always try to let them think it’s the first time anybody’s ever done that. And they’re so clever."

"After about the fourth time a day I put my hand out like, 'Kiss my ring,' like I do in the movie, and they all love to do that," he continued. "I give them the credit for getting down on their knees and doing the whole thing because it is a bit embarrassing on their part, so if they wanna go through with it, I say fine. Mike Myers told me, 'I could have stuck you with something so much worse than that!'

Alice also reflected on how Wayne's World gave his career a jolt, introducing him to a younger and new audience. To read the full interview, which also features director Penelope Spheeris and actress Tia Carrere (Cassandra in the movie), head to Billboard.

Wayne's World will be screening in select theaters today (Feb. 8) in celebration of the film's quarter century anniversary. To see a list of participating theaters, head to the dedicated website.
