J.J. Abrams Is Up to His Old Tricks With New ‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ Viral Campaign
J.J. Abrams is a fine filmmaker, but he might be an even better huckster. It wasn’t too long ago that Rolling Stone declared him to be “this generation’s P.T. Barnum,” praising the man’s unique talent for creating mystery around a project and generating buzz. He turned Star Wars: The Force Awakens into the can’t-miss cinematic event of a year that had already produced three of the ten highest-earning movies of all time. As the producer of Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield, Abrams took it upon himself to facilitate the creation of an ‘alternate-reality game’ that led determined fans to tantalizing new tidbits attached to the film. And it seems that now, Abrams is up to his old tricks.

It’s only apropos that Zoolander 2, a film about beautiful people’s supernatural abilities to help market luxury goods, would have a razor-sharp ad campaign to match. Andrew Haigh Suiting Up for Alexander McQueen Biopic
Still one of the biggest names in fashion six years after his shocking suicide at age 40, designer Alexander McQueen left a massive legacy on the industry he made his own. From the humblest of origins as the flamboyantly gay son to a working-class cabbie, McQueen worked his way to an apprenticeship in London’s Savile Row, the be-all end-all of British style. It was there that he’d earn a reputation as a world-class tailor, and ultimately attract the attentions of major figures such as Prince Charles, Mikhail Gorbachev and the dearly departed David Bowie. He’d take over Givenchy before moving on to his own massively successful label, terraforming the landscape of the fashion biz wherever he went.
Channing Tatum, ‘Furious 7’ Declared Everyone’s Favorites at 2016 People’s Choice Awards
If the Oscars are like the electoral college, selecting the cream of the crop through an arcane and confusing process available only to an older, white, male elite population, then that makes the People’s Choice Awards the popular vote...
New ‘Ghostbusters’ Photo Makes a Good Argument for the New ‘Ghostbusters’
There’s still quite a while to go until the July 15, 2016 release date of Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot, but the fires of fan anticipation must be continually stoked if they’re going to burn strong enough to last through the winter, and the wasteland of pop-cultural apathy that is the month of January...
