Ken Haugen is the General Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn and Houlihan's and food aficionado. I'll have Ken join me in the studio for a new feature called 'Chop Talk' in which Ken will highlight an item on the menu at Houliahn's.

This week, Ken brought three variations of their flatbreads:

  • Italian Sausage Flatbread - marinara, fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers
  • BBQ Chicken Flatbread - red onions, cilantro, pepper jack, romano andcheddar cheese, sour cream drizzle
  • Margherita Flatbread -  roma tomatoes, basil, fresh mozzarella, marinara

I truly enjoyed all three, but I was most impressed with the Margherita; I've always been intrigued to try a Margherita, but could never bring myself to order a meatless pizza. The flavors this particular flatbread offers are outstanding and, as Ken suggested on the radio, partnering the Italian sausage with the Margherita is almost certainly the way to go.

Not to be outdone, the BBQ Chicken features Houlihan's own BBQ sauce and, being a big fan of cilantro and onions, features the best toppings I could ask for! The buttermilk sour cream drizzled on the top is a tasty touch.

The Italian Sausage Flatbread was also delicious. I LOVE roasted red peppers and partnering it with the salty and season sausage makes this really good.
