Dubuque Participating in National Night Out August 1

The Dubuque Police Department is joining forces with Target, the Dubuque Multicultural Family Center, Dubuque Leisure Services, area Neighborhood Associations, and numerous other crime prevention & community advocates to bring National Night Out (NNO) to Dubuque for the 8th consecutive year.  NNO is an annual, nationwide, crime prevention event that promotes police-community partnerships, safety, and neighborhood unity.  This is the 34^th anniversary for NNO, with an estimated 38.3 million people in over 16,700 communities nationwide participating.

Event will be at Comiskey Park (24th / 25th & Jackson / Washington St.) on Tuesday, August 1^st from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for this entirely free event that includes food, beverages, games, a bounce-house/slide and gifts for the kids.  Police and Fire Department vehicles will also be on display, as will Brandon Prine’s 1997 Ford Mustang Dragster (sponsored by the Dubuque Police Protective Association). At dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.), the movie “Inside Out” will be shown outside at the park next to the community center.Help build a safer, stronger community by attending National Night Out.

WHAT IS NATIONAL NIGHT OUT?
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.
