The City of Dubuque Leisure Services Department will host a Family Fishing Day at the Lower Bee Branch on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to noon. Residents are asked to check-in at the registration table at E. 16th St. and Sycamore St.

The Lower Bee Branch contains 14 species of native fish including bluegill, largemouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, and pumpkinseed.

A casting station and volunteers from the Iowa DNR and the Dubuque County Conservation will be at the event to teach and assist residents with fishing. Poles and bait will be available, but equipment is limited. If possible, please bring your own pole.

This program is free. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Residents 16 years of age or older will need a license to fish. For information on where to buy a fishing license, visit www.iowadnr.gov.

The family fishing event is one of several programs at the Lower Bee Branch this summer.
