I'm nearly 30 years old and I'm proud to say that I still play video games and, just yesterday, have gotten back into football card collecting (with my wife's approval!!!).

Is purchasing a hobby set of football cards an early mid-life crisis? Maybe. However, it certainly isn't a spontaneous decision as I've been contemplating this move for months. This spring I had a beer with a friend of mine that I hadn't seen in over a year.

At some point in the conversation I was asked "so what do you do - like what hobbies do you have?". That got me thinking. I don't hunt, I don't build model trains, I don't like the outdoors like most do. I certainly could spend more time at the gym (which I plan on doing), but I'm not going to spend all of my free time with gym rats.

Football card collecting is something that I took seriously well into my late teens and would travel 150 miles round-trip to check out a new card store I hadn't been to.

I plan on selling certain cards online to help fund my renewed hobby (at least part of it AND this was also a selling point to my wife!). In 2-3 days, I will receive my wax box (10 packs of cards) in the mail. I don't know what to expect, but if I can get half the excitement I experienced when I'd open packs 10+ years ago, there will certainly be many more packs opened in the future.

Oh, if you were wondering why Adrian Peterson ripping through Clay Matthews' attempted tackle was chosen for this post's image, I'm a passionate Minnesota Vikings fan. SKOL!
