We all hate moving. In fact, if you enjoy moving I would question your sanity. Spending hours putting your belongings into boxes and then toting them into a truck only to unload them and unpack everything is just a pain in the a--!

Unfortunately, I had to relive this experience this week...Kinda. Yes, my wife and I moved. Yes, we packed our belongings into boxes that our friends were able to provide for us. The difference between this move and my previous eight in 10 years is that we paid movers to tackle the heavy lifting for us.

Is it cheap? No. $100 an hour. Was it convenient and reduce the "suck factor" of moving? YES! I'm not suggesting everyone pay more than $500 to have human ants move your things. It's not for everyone. In fact, there are some who will read this and roll their eyes and think it's ridiculous to fork over that kind of money to do something that people will do for free.

Do I make enough money to throw away more than $500? Heck no. However, by making a sacrifice here-or-there in the days leading up to our move, I was able to justify the expense. Add to that, we had to move on a Tuesday while all of my friends (free help) were working.

I can't say that movers are right for everyone. If you have free help from friends/family who are available the day you're moving, then you've got it covered and will save yourself hundreds (sans the money spent on pizza and beer for the help of course). If that's not an option and you yourself have to work the day of the move, I strongly suggest putting some money aside and letting the movers alleviate some of the stress.
