The Newly Rebuilt NE Cedar Rapids McDonald’s is Now Open

A Cedar Rapids McDonald's that has been rebuilt from the ground up is now welcoming customers again!

THE OLD LOCATION

Early in 2025, new signs appeared on the doors of the longtime McDonald's at 5725 Dry Creek Ln NE off of Blairs Ferry Road in Cedar Rapids. Those signs indicated that the location would soon be "Closing for Construction." After looking into it further, we discovered that the Cedar Rapids city website showed that a commercial building permit had been issued on January 9th of 2025 for a new McDonald's building, with a valuation of $2,090,000. Not long after, the old McDonald's restaurant was completely demolished.

THE NEW LOCATION

After around five months of construction, the brand new McDonald's building on Dry Creek Lane is now officially open! According to a post on the Cedar Rapids Area Foodies Facebook page, the fast food joint began welcoming customers at 11 a.m. on July 17th. Like many of the new McDonald's locations, the store features ordering kiosks inside the lobby, as well as wifi and mobile ordering. And, just like the old location, there is an indoor play place for kids to enjoy.

The Dry Creek Lane McDonald's is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to midnight and Friday & Saturday from 5 a.m. until 1 a.m. You can see the official listing on the McDonald's website HERE.

ADDITIONAL CEDAR RAPIDS MCDONALD'S

Earlier this month (July 2025), plans for a brand new McDonald's in Cedar Rapids moved forward. A July 9th article from the Corridor Business Journal reads:

"...the Cedar Rapids City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to rezone properties at 1712 32nd St. NE and 3201 and 3215 Carlisle St. NE to a traditional mixed use center district.

The developer of the property, Mirami LLC, is seeking to combine the parcels to be rezoned with adjacent land to the west 'to allow for construction of a 4500-square-foot quick service restaurant with a drive-through window,' according to council documents."
