All the Iowa State Fair ‘Best New Fair Food’ Winners Since 2013

The Iowa State Fair has been home to lots of delicious, creative food over the years! Here are all the previous winners of their annual 'Best New Fair Food' competition, courtesy of the Iowa State Fair website and articles from the Des Moines Register:

• 2013 - Shrimp Corn Dog from Zag's Po Boys
  • Deep-fried shrimp on a stick that's topped with a sweet jalapeño glaze

• 2014 - Funnel Cake on a Stick from Arnold's Concessions Brat Haus, Arnold's Funnel Cakes, and Jada's Funnell Cake
  • Vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry funnel cake batter that's topped with icing and served on a stick

• 2015 - The Ultimate Bacon Brisket Bomb from The Rib Shack 
  • Beef brisket with melted jalapeño cheese and seasoning that's wrapped in bacon, smoked, and coated with a homemade Sweet Chili BBQ Sauce

• 2016 - Not Your Mamma’s Taco from the Iowa Turkey Federation
  • A deep-fried flour tortilla filled with shredded, seasoned turkey that's topped with homemade veggie slaw and sweet mango salsa

• 2017 - The Pork Almighty from Steer ‘N’ Stein
  • A 32-ounce pop with a bowl on top that's filled with twisty fries, pulled pork, queso, Cookies barbecue sauce, onions, green peppers, and shredded cheese

• 2018 - The Apple Eggroll from Applishus
  • Eggrolls filled with apples and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, served with a caramel dipping sauce

• 2019 - Georgie’s Roast with the Most Wrap from G Mig’s Wrap Stand
  • Cheddar tortilla wrap with beef pot roast, a white rice mixture with Chorizo sausage crumbles, roasted green chilies, cheddar jack cheese, candy corn salsa, crispy corn tortilla crumbles, and a sour cream drizzle with a side of salsa verde sauce

• 2021 - Chicken Egg Salad with Fry Bread from Cluckin’ Coop by the Iowa Egg Council/Iowa Poultry Association
  • A combination of chicken and egg salads with fresh celery, cranberries, and toasted pecans that's served on Indian fry bread

• 2022 - The Finisher from The Rib Shack
  • A baked potato topped with chopped brisket, smoked pulled pork, and bacon brisket mac and cheese that's topped with BBQ sour cream and garlic rub butter

• 2023 - The Deep-Fried Bacon Brisket Mac-n-Cheese Grilled Cheese from What's Your Cheez
  • A deep-fried grilled cheese sandwich that consists of bacon brisket mac and cheese between two slices of bacon cheddar bread with a side of raspberry chipotle BBQ sauce

• 2024 - Bacon Cheeseburger Eggroll from Winn & Sara’s Kitchen
  • Ground beef, bacon, pickles, and cheese wrapped in a crispy eggroll and drizzled with house-made burger sauce
