UPDATE: 8/4/25

Sip at Midtown Reserve is officially open!

Located at 319 7th St SE in the former Tipsy Tomato, Sip offers a "robust selection of wines from across the globe," as well as "a menu of artisan pizzas, sharable charcuterie, and delicious small bites."

The new wine bar and pizza restaurant officially began welcoming customers on July 30th. It's open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY: 7/7/25

If you like to pair wine with your pizza, you're going to love the new bar and restaurant that's headed to Downtown Cedar Rapids this summer! Get ready for: Sip at Midtown Reserve.

Sip at Midtown Reserve is located 319 7th Street in Downtown Cedar Rapids, which is the same address as Midtown Reserve. But, Sip won't be replacing any part of Midtown Reserve (the restaurant or the bar & lounge area). Instead, it will take over the space that was formerly home to Tipsy Tomato. Midtown Reserve General Manager Gabrielle Waltermyer told me that the inside of the former restaurant has been completely remodeled and revamped for the new concept.

A social media post from Sip says that the new addition will pair "hand-crafted Artisan pizzas with a curated selection of wines in a cozy, stylish setting perfect for date nights, gatherings with friends, or a solo glass of something special." The post goes on to say that it will open soon (hopefully by the end of July!), and that you can follow them on social media for "opening updates, sneak peeks, and other delicious news."

There are currently a couple of martini bars in the Downtown Cedar Rapids area, but Sip at Midtown Reserve will be the only bar dedicated specifically to wine when it opens this summer. In the meantime, you can check out Midtown Reserve by making a reservation HERE. The bar & lounge area does not require a reservation, but offers a different menu than the official restaurant.
