Baked Beans, Inspired by Popular TV Show, Under Recall in IL & IA

Over 4,000 cases of baked beans, a brand specifically tied to a popular TV shows, have been recalled due to the possible presence of an undeclared allergen, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

If you happen to be a fan of the hit TV series Yellowstone, and are someone who has eagerly purchased several of the series' food products, you'll especially want to pay attention. If you're unaware, yes, the hit series starring Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, and Cole Hauser has spawned a litany of food items, including, but not limited to: spices, coffee, BBQ sauces, rubs, frozen food, canned goods, and more.

Last week, Vetti Food Group of Nashville, TN issued a voluntary recall of 4,515 cases of Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans. The reason for the recall is an undeclared allergen, specifically soy. Soy is designated as one of nine major allergens, which also include:

Eggs
Milk
Wheat
Sesame
Peanuts
Tree nuts
Crustacean shellfish
Fish

Per the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) website, approximately two million Americans cannot eat soy. Those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy could experience serious or even life-threatening allergic reactions.

The recalled baked beans were distributed through various retailers across 23 states, including:

Colorado
Delaware
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Michigan
Mississippi
Missouri
New Hampshire
New York
North Carolina
Ohio
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Virginia

The affected product has a "best if used by date" of February 17th, 2028, which can be located on the bottom of each can. As of this week, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported in relation to the recall, per Newsweek. Customers who bought the product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
