Carrot Top is one of those people we all know, at least tangentially, but my question is simple: how do you know Carrot Top?

Do you know him as the guy with a trunk or two full of props who occasionally performs on late night TV shows? Do you know him as a perennial cameo appearance on shows like Family Guy and Robot Chicken? During your vacation to Las Vegas, did you happen to catch his show at the Luxor Hotel & Casino? Carrot Top has the longest-running residency in Vegas for a comedian, currently in his 18th year.

Instantly recognizable, yet without a consistent output of mainstream comedy, Carrot Top has been able to remain a household name after decades of doing his thing, and doing it unapologetically. I've always been a fan. I remember stumbling upon an old DVD of Carrot Top Rocks Las Vegas when I was in high school. Knowing Carrot Top at least by name (how I even knew him is a question I myself cannot answer), I bought it. I was thoroughly entertained, despite some distracting editing effects that occasionally drove me mad.

I was fortunate enough to connect with Carrot Top as he's in the middle of celebrating 18 years in Las Vegas. He performs six nights a week at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. A workaholic, yet a man who has perfected his craft through years of experience, I was primed to ask the man himself questions that have festered in my mind over the course of years.

For starters, did you know that Carrot Top used to host a morning TV show on Cartoon NetworkCarrot Top's A.M. Mayhem was the morning block that aired on Cartoon Network in the TV station's early days. Carrot Top would play a plethora of different characters in between various cartoon shorts. What little you can find of it on YouTube looks quite fun.

Carrot Top spoke about his experiences working at Cartoon Network, his film, Chairman of the Board, in which he was the lead actor, and his friendship with Toby Keith.

Where comedians often get the reputation of being egotistical and self-absorbed, Carrot Top is down-to-earth and genuine. He's funny, approachable, and a hell of a showman; a man as large as his trademark hairstyle.

If you're planning a trip to Las Vegas, you can find tickets to Carrot Top's show at the Luxor Hotel & Casino here.
