Iowa Native Competing on Upcoming Season of “The Bachelor”
As of late, a ton of Iowans have been making waves on national TV. Local Dubuque Chef Kevin Scharpf appeared on the TODAY show recently; a Clive, IA teenager is also currently competing on a Food Network program. And now, one of the 30 contestants on the upcoming season of The Bachelor is a native Iowan!
Bloomfield, IA native Mercedes Northup is set to compete on the upcoming 27th season of the wickedly popular ABC reality show. Northup currently lives in Nashville, but claims Bloomfield as her roots.
Mercedes is a fun-loving, bubbly woman ready to spread her wings! She has four jobs and works extremely hard to support herself, but she is ready to prioritize finding her perfect match. Mercedes is very close with her mother and will definitely be looking for her approval the next time she brings home a man! Mercedes has been in two serious relationships, but both ended because she knew those men weren't her person. While Mercedes loves a night out on the town in Nashville, she also enjoys staying in and cuddling with her dog. She says she's looking for a man who will make her laugh and is someone she can bring to family dinner on Sundays. Mercedes says her love language is giving and receiving gifts, so hopefully, Zach is ready to be showered with tokens of her love!
Other details about Northup include that she's shown pigs at the Iowa State Fair in the past and she loves driving around blasting country music.
Northup isn't the first to represent Iowa on The Bachelor in some capacity. Season 19's bachelor Chris Soules,
Season 19 bachelor Chris Soules, Miss Iowa USA 2017 Kelsey Weier, who appeared on Season 24, and Bachelor in Paradise Season 4 winner Derek Peth have al given the Hawkeye State some national attention via the reality TV program.
Mercedes Northup will be competing for the love and attention of Zach Shallcross on the upcoming 27th season of The Bachelor, which premieres Monday, January 23rd on ABC!
