When it comes to supporting local non-profits, there might not be an easier and more impactful program than Kwik Care.

If you're not aware, Kwik Care has helped raise both funds and awareness for local nonprofits. Each month, Kwik Stop and Dairy Queen help collect donations for a different organization. Donations can be made easily by requesting your total purchase at any of those businesses (including at the gas pumps at Kwik Stop) be rounded up to the nearest dollar. The additional cents used to round up will be donated to the respective charity of the month.

This month's Kwik Care recipient is the Tri-State Independent Blind Society, located at 1068 Cedar Cross Road in Dubuque. The society assists blind individuals by improving their quality of life and helping them live independently.

Violet of the Blind Society joined Heather Hamm of Kwik Stop/Rainbo Oil in the studio today. Violet, the 91-year-old founder of the society which has been around since 1972, spoke about how the organization has weekday office hours from 9am - 4:30pm, a Low-Vision Center offering items for the blind, and a bookstore too.

The Tri-State Independent Blind Society is also known for their Bingo Nights, which take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:30pm for early birds as well as 8:30pm. These Bingo Nights are crucial for the society to help pay their bills and keep serving individuals in the community.
