WATCH: Bystander Tackles Man Who Breached TSA Security
There's some new surveillance footage released after an incident at the Atlanta airport, where a bystander ran through security and got tackled by a bystander just seconds later.
The incident took place back on October 30th, at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Fabian Leon, who was later charged with simple battery and avoiding security measures.
Security footage shows Leon rushing through the airport before attempting to enter the TSA checkpoint. As he approached the initial screening area, he pushed the agent out of his way, knocking the officer to the ground and stumbling over him on his way through.
A TSA officer in the area yelled "BREACH!" to let other agents know something was happening, and that's when traveler Mark Thomas turned around and saw Leon headed towards him.
Without hesitation, Thomas lunged and grabbed Leon, lifting him up off of the ground and slamming him down and out of his shoes.
"I saw him knock over the first dude and then a TSA agent tried to grab him, and once he was going to get past me, I was just like, okay, I'll just take over if I can," Thomas said, according to Fox 5.
He said that Leon was weirdly calm and detached from what had just happened.
"He was very soft-spoken. He just kept saying, 'Oh, I'm okay, I'm okay, let me up, let me up, I'm okay'," Thomas said. "It's like, kind of clear, that he was sort of detached from the entire situation."
Of course, Leon told officers that he had consumed alcohol and drugs right before the incident occurred.
During the scuffle trying to detain Leon, three officers were reportedly assaulted as well.
