Cedar Falls Public Safety Joins Pink Patch Project for Breast Cancer Awareness

The city of Cedar Falls is going pink!

Cedar Falls Public Safety is once again joining the nationwide Pink Patch Project this October to support breast cancer awareness.

What does that entail? It's actually pretty cool.

What is the Pink Patch Project?

The initiative, which began with the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association, brings together hundreds of public safety agencies across the country.

It centers on bright pink versions of traditional police and fire uniform patches, which officers and firefighters in Cedar Falls will wear throughout October to spark conversations about early detection and treatment.

In Cedar Falls, the effort goes beyond uniforms. A police SUV will be outfitted with pink striping and a pink ribbon design and will be seen on patrol throughout the month.

The department is also selling collectible pink patches and apparel to raise funds for the local Beyond Pink TEAM, which supports individuals and families affected by breast cancer.

Where You Can Buy Your Pink Patch

Patches are available now for $10 at the Public Safety Center, 4600 South Main Street, and apparel will be sold during the Pink Ribbon Run on October 4 at River Place Plaza, as well as afterward at the Public Safety Center while supplies last.

Short-sleeve shirts are $20, long-sleeve shirts are $25, and sweatshirts are $30, with sizes ranging from small to 3XL.

Both patches and apparel will also be available at community events throughout October.
