Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart Inducted into Iowa League of Cities Hall of Fame

The mayor of Waterloo, Quentin Hart, is in his fifth term. Throughout his tenure, he's been recognized for his leadership and mentorship skills.

Now, he's being honored by the  Iowa League of Cities.

This is the organization’s highest honor for individuals who have provided extraordinary public service to city government and the League community.

Hart received the recognition during the League’s Annual Conference & Exhibit in Des Moines this past week, following a recommendation by the League Awards Panel and approval by the Executive Board.

The Hall of Fame recognizes leaders whose work has significantly advanced city government in Iowa through leadership roles, service on state or national commissions, training and mentoring of local leaders, advocacy for cities, and professional assistance to municipalities.

Mayor Hart expressed his gratitude in a press release saying,

I am deeply honored to accept this recognition on behalf of the people of Waterloo, our City Council, and the dedicated public servants who show up for this community every day

Mayor Hart's fifth term ends December 31, 2025.

Hart's Accomplishments as Waterloo Mayor

Hart’s nomination highlighted his long-term, community-first leadership in Waterloo and his contributions across Iowa.

His work includes spearheading Waterloo Fiber to expand digital access, driving infrastructure renewal, and economic revitalization.

He's been credited with strengthening youth engagement and public safety partnerships, and representing municipalities on state and national platforms.

As Waterloo’s first African American mayor, Hart has also been recognized as a trailblazer for inclusive, collaborative governance that builds opportunity across neighborhoods.

Mayor Hart recently announced he's running for a sixth term as Waterloo mayor.
