Baraboo’s First Brewery Adds Great Beer and Food to Epic Scenery
This weekend was made for epic views as my family and I took on the bluffs at Devils Lake in Wisconsin. After over 6 miles on the trails (mostly spent as billygoats), you're gonna' need somewhere to relax and unwind. We didn't have to travel far to refuel with great food and ice-cold brews.
Nestled just a few miles from Devil’s Lake State Park, Tumbled Rock Brewery & Kitchen in Baraboo offers the perfect retreat for both locals and visitors, like me. Established in September 2019, this open-concept kitchen and brewery has quickly become a favorite spot for those seeking hearty meals, craft brews, and a welcoming atmosphere, and I can see why.
The menu at Tumbled Rock is a fusion of classic culinary dishes with modern twists. We pulled up a seat in the kitchen section of Tumbled Rock and were quickly met by the server, despite how busy it was on the night. You can try all manner of sandwiches, pizzas, and appetizers.
I enjoyed the BBQ platter, which features pork ribs, brisket, burnt ends, and chicken wings. I got lucky on this one. According to my server, these are always in limited quantity, and I happened to get the last plate of the evening!
My daughter grabbed their take on the classic BLT, and my wife enjoyed their spicy chicken sandwich with house chips.
For those of you with dietary preferences, the kitchen does offer gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian options.

While I was munching, of course, I had to try a flight of their brewery's best. And trust me, beer lovers will appreciate the selection of handcrafted brews.
Here's the brewery and tap room.
Flagship beers like the Devil’s Doorway Double IPA showcase the expertly crafted flavors.
This is the Elephant Bath: a wheat beer featuring banana, mango, and bubble gum flavors.
In all, I tried five brews on the flight, including the one mentioned above. Dutch Farmer was another of my favorites, but I also enjoyed Jimmy D's Mexican Lager, their Midwest Indigo, and the Elephant Bath.
The night my family and I went, it was a packed house with a great atmosphere. Live music was pumping from the outdoor stage as loads of families enjoyed tunes, food, and brews.
Yes, the spacious patio was hopping and the taps were flowing. By the way, you can take crowlers & growlers of those epic brews to go.
So, whether you're winding down after a hike in the bluffs surrounding Devils Lake or simply seeking a memorable dining experience, Tumbled Rock Brewery & Kitchen offers a perfect blend of delicious food, exceptional brews, and a welcoming atmosphere for all.
And before you leave, make sure to stop by the gift shop for some Tumbled Rock wear as well.
