Camp Courageous Hosts Spring Break Bash, April 5th; Preps For Mini-Golf!
Camp Courageous has been an outstanding year-round recreational and respite care facility near Monticello. I know. I grew up in Monticello, and have even had the chance to volunteer there, and attended many events at Camp Courageous over the years. They have serve Iowans with disabilities and special needs in the most unique and wonderful ways; which brings me to their Spring Break Bash coming up April 5th!
According to a press release from the organization, youth campers will get to celebrate the arrival of spring in style at Camp Courageous. This event is specifically designed for special education teachers and students, group homes, and others that live with or care for disabled individuals, up to the age of 21. The Spring Break Bash takes place on Tuesday, April 5th from 9:30am to 1pm at Camp Courageous. This exciting bash is the perfect way for campers to enjoy the season with dozens of other special education classes and groups from the surrounding area.
During the Spring Break Bash campers can enjoy heated indoor pools, climbing activities, hiking trails, arts and crafts, zipline adventures, archery, and much more. And that's not all! The day will be capped off with an unforgettable dance that no one will want to miss.
Best of all, the Spring Break Bash event at Camp Courageous is completely free. Groups are welcome to bring along a sack lunch to enjoy at the camp before heading back to their school or homes. In addition, Camp Courageous has recently started work on an 18-Hole Miniature Golf Course.
Crews are currently working on forming the greens, followed by a landscaping crew. Watch their Facebook page for updates on this exciting project. According to their website, the course is designed to support the needs of individuals with disabilities. The mini-golf course will be all-accessible and 100% barrier-free for all individuals so that there is ease of transition from one hole to the next.
Design work is starting now on features and themes for each golf hole in this future camper activity area. Support is still needed to help make sure that the entire course can be utilized by all campers. If you'd like to make a contribution to help get this project completed, go to this website.
