Donate to Multicultural Family Center All Month via Kwik Care

Heather Hamm of Kwik Stop not only stopped by the studio once again, but she also brought some friends this time!

Heather brought along Umaru Balde and Chris Johnson of the Multicultural Family Center (MFC) in Dubuque. The MFC is the Kwik Care recipient for the month of June.

Kwik Care has helped raise both funds and awareness for local nonprofits. Each month, Kwik Stop, Dairy Queen, and Fazoli's help collect donations for a different organization. Donations can be made easily by requesting your total purchase at any of those businesses (including at the gas pump with Kwik Stop) be rounded up to the nearest dollar. The additional cents used to round up will be donated to the respective charity of the month.

Balde, the Director of the MFC, and Johnson, the President of the Center's Volunteer Board, spoke about the organization's mission. The MFC partners with several different individuals and organizations with a goal in mind to better collaborate and understand groups across racial, ethnic, age, and socioeconomic groups.

"Everything [the MFC does] points to the ultimate goal: a greater level of inclusivity, engagement and harmony that will give everyone who lives here one more reason to love this city," reads a portion of their mission statement on their website.

Balde also talked about his background. A native to West Africa (specifically Guinea-Bissau), he has lived in multiple different countries and even speaks 13 languages! The newly appointed Director of the MFC is excited to get to work.

The MFC is holding multiple upcoming events, including a "Teen Hangout," a Juneteenth celebration, and a Pride celebration on June 25th, Indian Independence Day, and more!
