Downtown Dubuque Business to Close After 5 Years of Operation
To be honest, this sucks. I always had a blast when I went to BustinAxe with my friends. Well, after several years of providing Dubuque with a unique blend of fun and competition, BustinAxe Throwing Range will sadly be closing its doors permanently on October 31st, 2024.
Located in the heart of Dubuque’s historic downtown, I felt like BustinAxe had become a go-to spot for friends, families, and even coworkers looking for an exciting and unconventional way to spend time together or even blow off some steam.
I’m especially bummed about the closure because I had such a blast the last time I was there for a friend’s birthday party.

Axe throwing was a new experience for most of us, and after the coach gave us a quick demo on technique and safety, we got right into it. Scary enough, my wife was oddly good at it...
Like seriously... scary good.
The competition was fierce but friendly, and the atmosphere was always relaxed and fun. But what really made the day special was that there was more to do than just axe tossing.

You could try throwing knives and stars—definitely a cool challenge! Plus, the venue’s mix of drinks and snacks always made it easy to hang out between turns.
Yes, I am wearing a Hawaiian shirt. It was a party what can I say.
What set BustinAxe apart wasn’t just the activities, though; it was the vibe. The staff was welcoming, and the space felt like a perfect combination of rustic and modern—just the kind of place where you could lose track of time with good friends and an ice-cold drink.
While it’s sad to see BustinAxe close, I’m grateful for the memories and would encourage anyone who hasn’t gone yet to check it out before the end of the month. You won’t regret it!
