Dubuque Esports League Names First Director

According to a press release from the organization, the Dubuque Esports League, also known as DEL, has recently named its first Esports Director, Drew “Elseweyr” Walton. Elseweyr is Drew’s gaming avatar.

The Dubuque Esports League is a charitable organization encouraging competitive and recreational gamers to develop skills through hands-on, experiential learning. Current games being focused on include League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Rainbow 6, Super Smash Brothers, Valorant, Fortnite, Minecraft, Call of Duty, and Madden.

Drew Walton came to Dubuque Esports League as a lifelong gamer, creator, and father of two boys. After graduating from Loras College in 2015, he started his career in college athletics before making a jump into a creative director role for a local startup. When the pandemic flipped Walton's plans upside down, he organized an online esports community where he saw firsthand the transformative impact of esports. 

Drew’s commitment to creating a positive and inclusive gaming community caught our attention when we started our organization, and we knew he would be a great fit as our first Esports Director.

As the Esports Director, Drew is responsible for leading the esports community in the Tri-State area by managing and overseeing all aspects of DEL’s esports programs, teams, and events.

I was drawn to DEL’s mission of providing our community with opportunities to engage and grow with esports as a platform, and I am looking forward to implementing new and innovative ways to engage and inspire others through gaming.

Walton spends his time with his wife Erin and their growing family, enjoying the beautiful area and environment that Dubuque offers. Their goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and positive community for everyone that chooses gaming as a platform to grow and be society’s next game-changers.
