
Dubuque Gets Swimmin’ at Flora and Sutton!
It's official according to a release from the City of Dubuque; The Leisure Services Department announced it will open both Flora and Sutton pools for the 2023 season! Opening day at both pools is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 30th, dependent upon the weather.
Swim passes and registration for swim lessons begins at Flora and Sutton pools at 9am on Friday, April 28th. Aqua-tots class will be offered for children 1 to 3 years of age accompanied in the water by a guardian who is age 14 or older. Group swim lessons for ages 3 and older will be held in two-week sessions starting June 12 through Aug. 3. Private swim lessons and adapted swim lessons for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities will also be available.
The Leisure Services Department also offers a Family Scholarship fund, which can be used to purchase swim lessons and swim passes. The Family Scholarship is a $125 household credit for income-qualified families (two or more related people from the same address). In addition to swim passes, scholarship credits can be used for program registration, pavilion rentals, and other services. Those who qualify for a Leisure Services Family Scholarship automatically qualify for a Creative Adventure Lab Scholarship which includes a complimentary one-year Family Play Membership. Reservations to rent the Flora and Sutton pools will open at 9am Monday, April 10th. The pools are available for rental on Saturday and Sunday evenings from 5 to 7pm for up to 300 people. The rental fee for Flora Pool is $475 and the rental fee for Sutton Pool is $350. New this year, pool rental reservations can be made online here. Reservations can also be made over the phone or at the Leisure Services office located at 1157 Central Avenue.
