Sonny arrived at the shelter as a stray alongside his companion, Cher, who is also currently looking for a home. Sonny is approximately 5 years old and weighs around 51 pounds. Though he has a "low-rider" build and might look a little rough and rowdy, he’s actually a total teddy bear.

Sonny loves people and has attended multiple community events where he’s enjoyed meeting new friends of all ages. You may have seen him out and about. He thrives on attention and is always happy to make a new human friend. While Sonny has done well meeting dogs that are bigger than he is, he does not do well with small dogs or cats.

If you are looking for a classic, snorty shelter dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Sonny could be your perfect match. He is currently at the shelter, so stop by during walk-in hours or schedule an appointment if you’d like to skip the line and meet him!

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
