Here’s A Picture-Purrfect Way to Help Dubuque Shelter Pets!

Instead of our usual Pet of the Week, we’re highlighting a creative (and possibly hilarious) way you can support the animals at the Dubuque Regional Humane Society: our Pet Portrait Fundraiser!

For a $25 donation, you’ll receive a one-of-a-kind portrait of your pet, drawn by one of our passionate (but not always professional!) team members or volunteers. Whether it turns out to be wall-worthy or wonderfully wacky, your custom 8x10 portrait will be just as unique as your furry (or feathered!) friend.

The best part? Every dollar goes directly toward the thousands of animals that rely on DRHS every year. As a no-kill, open-admission shelter, we take in all animals regardless of age, health, or temperament. We’re here to give them the second chances they deserve — providing medical care, food, shelter, enrichment, and a whole lot of love until they find their forever homes.

When you donate through this fundraiser, you’re not just getting a fun piece of art: you���re helping a sick kitten get the treatment she needs, giving an abandoned dog a warm bed and food, and giving hope to animals who need it most.

Submissions are open until Wednesday, July 23rd at 11:59 PM. One pet per photo, please. Remember, while people can be in the picture, only the pet will be drawn. You can choose to receive your portrait by email or pick it up from the shelter between July 23rd and August 6th.

Mediums will vary in nature; from crayon to digital to marker and beyond. And results are 100% unpredictable (But that’s part of the fun!). Better quality photos give the artists a fighting chance, but no promises!
