The Centers for Disease Control estimates that over 800,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year. A heart attack occurs when a blood clot in a coronary artery partially or completely blocks blood flow to the heart muscle. Treatment guidelines include administering aspirin upon arrival and discharge, timely restoration of blood flow to the blocked artery, smoking cessation counseling, cardiac rehabilitation, and other specialized programs based on patient needs.

“I salute our incredible team here at UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital who helped us achieve this very select recognition. As one of fewer than sixty hospitals in the country to achieve the Gold Performance Achievement Award, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to providing the highest quality heart care for patients right here in the Tri-State Area.”
