Galena Cellars to Close Their Main Street Kitchen, Refocus on Wine
My wife and I hold some pretty good memories in Galena and our trips were never finished until we stopped by Galena Cellars to try some new wines or grab a bottle for home. My personal favorite has always been their Ports. With my wife enjoying more of the fruit-forward wines early in our marriage.
We actually just recently made some new memories at Galena Cellars’ downtown location that involved their new to us delicious food. I took a go at their juicy bison sliders. They were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor and they paired beautifully with a dry red wine (General's Reserve), which is always my go to. My wife couldn’t get enough of their spring pesto sandwich, which was fresh and satisfying. And the kiddos enjoyed chicken strips (they were huge) and a grilled cheese. For us, having the option to enjoy some tasty dishes alongside their incredible wines elevated that visit.
Sadly, that kitchen at 111 N. Main Street will close on January 1st, 2025, bringing an end to its four-year run. Galena Cellars has decided to refocus its downtown location on its core mission of crafting and sharing exceptional wines, a legacy built over 30 years of family ownership.
Fans of the kitchen can still savor and enjoy a limited menu Fridays through Sundays in December. This closure also marks a transition for the kitchen team, including Executive Chef Fernando Escalante, who is moving on to exciting new ventures. The owners expressed their gratitude to him and the rest of the team for the countless memorable experiences they’ve helped create.
While the kitchen will be missed, the tasting room and cocktail bar will remain open, offering wine tastings at the bar for $10 and wine flights for $14. Galena Cellars continues to feature over 40 wine varieties and a vibrant wine club for enthusiasts. Enjoy them by the glass or the bottle and you can also catch entertainment in the form of live music randomly at their tasting room and bar.
