Galena Riverbank Lights Up With Firework Display [VIDEO]
As the July 4th holiday was winding down, I somehow mustered the energy to rally for Monday night's final fireworks and mini-street festival downtown and along the river in Galena.
The Kiwanis Club of Galena hosts the fireworks and festival through fundraising and generous contributions, including the volunteer efforts of the GOATS Bicycling Club, taking care of the food and beverage stations.
At a cost of $12,000, longtime Kiwanis Club member Dan Morizzo shares how the organization funds the fireworks and festival for the community, especially for the kids.
Galena knows how to host a party. Yet, its postcard backdrop is even more impressive when you add the fun band, Ten Gallon Hat, playing classic covers from the Eagles to Little Big Town.

Many people began staking out their Galena riverbank vantage point early in the evening. It was clearly the way to go, with hundreds eventually descending on the historic town for one last fireworks display.
While there was plenty of room for all to see and enjoy the show, several more took advantage of the footbridge for optimal viewing.
With an electrical storm looming in the distance, the crowd witnessed a spectacular light show courtesy of Mother Nature.
With the sun finally set and darkness descending on the town, it was time for fireworks with the initial cannon firing. The show thrilled those gathered for nearly 25 minutes with a spectacular array of colorful bursts illuminating the night sky.
After a patriotic fun-filled weekend, the crowd appeared content and satisfied with another July 4th completed in grand Galena style.
