Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling with DMASWA
Spring is here and that means gearing up for another season of chores, but first on the list is spring cleaning. Ask yourself this; when’s the last time you cleaned out under your sink or in your garage? Things like toilet bowl cleaner, weed and feed, pesticides, vehicle fluids, motor oil, and more, all need to be properly disposed of. That’s where the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency (DMASWA) can help.
DMASWA provides household hazardous waste and electronic recycling to residents of Dubuque and Delaware County. Appointments are required and must be scheduled on available dates and times. The easiest way to make an appointment is by visiting https://www.dmaswa.org/219. The scheduling tool, which is available following that link, is for residential customers only; with Dubuque and Delaware County citizens able to schedule both electronics and household hazardous appointments. Residents of Illinois and Wisconsin can only schedule electronic appointments following the link.
All vehicles must stop at the scale when arriving on site. Make sure to let the scale operator know you are there for an appointment. Then, if you have TV's, Monitors, and Laptops a $15 charge for each will be handled there before dropping off your items.
For more information on what they take and what they do not for Household Hazardous Waste visit https://www.dmaswa.org/161/. For a list of acceptable electronics visit https://www.dmaswa.org/160. If you do not have internet access, you can also reach them at (563) 557-8220 extension 1.
Everything they do at the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency is focused on the environment and sustainability. Their goal is to operate an environmentally sound landfill and enable well-planned, community-driven, sustainable waste reduction and resource conservation alternatives.
