According to a police report from the Jo Davies County Sheriff's Office, two people were killed and two others were injured in a crash involving two vehicles and a semi-tractor trailer Monday night (1/9) in Galena.

The names of those involved have not been released yet.

At approximately 11:02pm on Monday night the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a three vehicle crash with multiple injuries on US 20 West, just west of William Drive in Galena, IL.

Upon arrival, Deputies learned that an eastbound 2011 Chevy Cobalt had crossed into the westbound lane and collided head on with a westbound 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The Hyundai Elantra then collided with a trailer attached to a 2005 Peterbilt semi-tractor which was eastbound on US 20.

The two occupants of the Hyundai Elantra were pronounced deceased at the scene. The other occupant of the Hyundai Elantra and the single occupant of the Chevy Cobalt were transported from the scene to Midwest Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The driver of the Peterbilt semi was not injured.

This traffic crash remains under investigation and more information will be released at a later time.
