I love me some burgers. In fact, I think I have had pretty much every kind there is to offer; except for the one that can now be found in Illinois. I've had your basic beef, turkey, and chicken along with some rarities like deer, ostrich, ox, buffalo, and bison. But I have never had the infamous wagyu. And certainly not 100% Japanese wagyu beef, but with a trip to Chicago I can check it off the list.

Where's the Beef?

If you're craving a burger, Not A Damn Chance Burger, better known as NADC Burger, is apparently the place to go. This Austin, Texas-based burger joint has flipped its way into Wicker Park, at 1426 North Milwaukee Avenue. It's NADC’s eighth location, proving this mini-chain has some serious bun-lievable momentum. The burger originally exploded on the Chicago scene at the Drop Inn Bar in 2023, and was renamed for the burger later to NADC Bar found at 415 N Milwaukee Avenue.

What’s on the Menu?

Two things. That's it. Just two things. A cheeseburger and fries. No salads, no chicken, no endless options. Just one expertly crafted burger and some crispy, golden fries.

But don't let the minimal menu fool you. The burger is far from basic. NADC Burger’s signature creation is made with 100% full-blooded Japanese wagyu beef sourced from R-C Ranch in Texas. It’s rich, buttery, and packed with flavor. The onions are cooked right with the burger and then it's topped with American cheese, secret sauce, pickles, and slightly tamed jalapeños for $16. Go bigger by adding a patty for $8.

The second item is their twice-fried fries. They're fried in wagyu fat for an extra dose of indulgence. And if you want to take things up a notch? Order the "Beast Mode Fries," which come loaded with cheese, diced pickles, jalapeños, special sauce, and a dash of OG steak spice.

Who’s Behind It?

NADC Burger is the brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Phillip Frankland Lee (seen above) and professional skateboarder Neen Williams (seen below). The duo bonded over their love of burgers after skate sessions and decided to create their own ultimate cheeseburger, which was their go-to meal. After a lot of trial and error, they nailed a recipe so good they didn’t feel the need to add anything else to the menu.

How Can You Get One?

Starting this Friday, March 21, you can swing by their new Wicker Park location and sink your teeth into one of these juicy creations. With seating for up to 60 people, plus a patio for those warmer months, it’s the perfect spot to kick back and chow down on that beefy wagyu goodness.

So if you're feeling a little beefy or your fry cravings are reaching the crispy tipping point, this might just be the spot for you. One bite, and I'm sure you’ll know, this place isn’t just flipping burgers; they’re grillin' it. See what I did there.
