Illinois in the Spotlight

While the GRAMMYs celebrate global talent, Illinois has its own moment of pride this year. Chicago’s Malik Yusef, an acclaimed spoken word artist, songwriter, and rapper, is nominated for Best Spoken Word Album for his collaboration with Benda World. Yusef, who has worked with icons like Kanye West and Beyoncé, continues to showcase Chicago’s legacy of artistic innovation on the world stage.

Illinois’ music legacy runs deep, from the blues roots of Chicago to contemporary artists making waves. Although this year’s GRAMMY stage might not be overflowing with Illinois representation, artists like Yusef remind us of the state's enduring contribution to music and the arts.

Whether you're tuning in to cheer on your favorite nominees or hear some of your favorite artists perform, February 2nd promises an evening of unforgettable performances and heartfelt tributes. With Illinois talent in the mix and a renewed sense of purpose behind the ceremony, the 67th GRAMMY Awards plans to celebrate music, resilience, community, and hope. Set your reminders, grab your popcorn, and get ready to celebrate a night where music (and Illinois) stands tall among the stars!
