To quote the great entrepreneur and reality TV star Jon Taffer"a bar is a bar, but a tavern has a soul."

The soul of Baraboo's On Main (345 Main Street) will be remembered by its faithful patrons and diners. The tavern/restaurant that's become a fixture on Dubuque's Main Street for the last four years took to Facebook to announce they would be closing this week. Thursday, July 30th will mark its final day of business.

Baraboo's is Going Out with a Bang:

In a Facebook post you could believe was written through tears, Baraboo's thanked a litany of people who made their establishment a success:

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every customer, friend, employee, musician, karaoke singer and supporter who walked through our doors. You’ve meant more to us than words can express - per Baraboo's On Main's Facebook page

Owners Chad and Christina Rose Miller are giving extra thanks to their customers by offering 50% off wings, wraps, Reubens, appetizers, and all beer and cocktails during the final two days of operation.

The Millers purchased the building, which was originally Skinny Maginny's, from Larry Ikonomopoulos in 2022, per the Telegraph Herald's Biz Times. The new name stems from the couple's dog, a Labradoodle.

It has been a tough year for Dubuque's local restaurant scene. Earlier this year, 1st & Main in Dubuque announced it would be closing, and the nearby restaurant The Hub closed up shop in April. Pete's Thai Kitchen is no more, and neither is Dubuque's Pita Pit on the West End.
