The City of Dubuque will resume its regular weekly curbside collection of yard waste and food scraps on Monday, April 3, 2023. Collections will be made on customers’ regular curbside collection days, per a press release.

Yard waste and food scraps collection options include:

  • Brown paper yard waste bags that display a City of Dubuque single-use yard waste sticker.
  • 35-gallon rigid solid waste containers with either a single-use yard waste sticker looped on the handle or the City’s 2023 annual yard waste decal displayed.
  • City-issued yard waste and food scraps tipper carts (13 or 64 gallons).

Single-use stickers are sold at City Hall and many local grocery and hardware stores. Residents can subscribe to City-issued tipper carts or purchase a 2023 annual yard waste decal at City Hall, online www.cityofdubuque.org/yardwaste, or by phone at 563-589-4144.

Yard waste and food scraps should not be placed in plastic bags and must be kept separate from other trash. Collections must be set out by 6 a.m. and not weigh over 40 pounds per container or bundle.

The City of Dubuque offers a free tool, “ReThink Waste Dubuque,” to make it easier for City curbside collection customers to remember to set out trash, recycling, and organics, to stay informed on collection schedule changes, and what can and cannot be recycled.
