The University of Northern Iowa is 150 years old!

A wild milestone, no doubt, it's a staple in the Cedar Valley in NE Iowa, and has given us many memories over the years, especially in sports.

Now, you have a chance to tour the historic college!

UNI at 150: A Walking Tour

The University of Northern Iowa will open its Cedar Falls campus for a special walking tour this fall, inviting the community to celebrate 150 years of history and architecture.

The UNI 150th Anniversary Architectural Tour will take place on Friday, October 3, at 5:30 p.m. and is free to the public.

The tour will highlight nine of UNI’s most iconic buildings, including Bartlett Hall, the Campanile, Rod Library, Seerley Hall, the President’s House, Honors Cottage, and the Alumni House.

A special student and alumni-only tour is also planned for Thursday, October 2, at 3:30 p.m. Both tours will begin at the Bartlett Hall Courtyard, located at 1200 West 23rd Street.

UNI Walking Tour: What to Know

Organizers say the tour will cover about 1.5 miles, including some stairs, and will last about an hour.

Parking is available at the Multimodal Transportation Center at 1215 West 23rd Street.

The event is part of the university’s sesquicentennial celebration and is co-hosted by the Cedar Falls Historic Preservation Commission, Cedar Falls Tourism, and the City of Cedar Falls.
