Popular Eastern Iowa Pizza Shop That Went Viral Is Closing

Sometimes, even going viral in a good way isn't enough to save a restaurant.  The average "life" for a restaurant is just over 6 years.

While this Iowa pizza shop has been around for over 11 years, they announced they will be closing soon.  If you want to join the dump truck challenge, now is the time to get it done.

Back Shop Pizza's Dump Truck Challenge

The eating challenge went viral for Back Shop Pizza in Clinton, Iowa.  They called it the "Dump Truck Challenge." Two people have one hour to finish a one-topping 30-inch pizza in 1 hour.

While it went viral around Eastern Iowa, it also went national when Randy Santel covered it on his YouTube page.  With his 1.78 million subscribers, the video was viewed more than 229,000 times!

And while that was impressive, Back Shop Pizza was way more than that.  It was all good food and good times with all the games that were in the restaurant.

The owners announced on Facebook that they will soon be shutting the doors permanently.

"It's been a great 11 years in business, but everything great eventually comes to an end. With a heavy heart, we would like to announce the closing of Back Shop Pizza on July 28, 2025. We would like to thank all of the staff throughout the years for their hard work and dedication, and we thank all of the support from our customers, as we wouldn't have grown without you. Come show your support and get your last "Back Shop fix" while you can!!"
