Fifteen years after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Sopranos star Jamie Lynn Sigler has gone public with her condition, saying she has every intention of living life to the fullest with her new husband and two-year-old son Beau.

In an interview with Peoplethe 34-year-old actress recalls having to pause for breaks while filming The Sopranos, on which she played Tony Soprano's daughter Meadow between 1999 and 2007.

"Sometimes all I needed was like five or 10 minutes to sit and recharge but I wouldn't ask, because I didn't want them to be suspicious," she said.

And while Sigler has managed to get the symptoms of the degenerative neurological condition under control thanks to a twice-daily pill, she admits her quality of life has changed.

"I can't walk for a long period of time without resting," she shared. "I cannot run. No superhero roles for me. Stairs? I can do them but they're not the easiest. When I walk, I have to think about every single step, which is annoying and frustrating."

That being said, Sigler says she has no intention of letting the illness dictate the course of her life.

"It takes a fighting attitude to deal with all this. This disease can absolutely take over your life if you let it," she admitted. "It's part of me, but it's not who I am...I wanted to be an example to [my son] of strength and courage."
