Jo Daviess County Crash Leads to DUI Charge for East Dubuque Man
A single-vehicle crash in rural Jo Daviess County on the evening of Tuesday January 28th, 2025, resulted in a DUI charge for a 21-year-old East Dubuque man. Juan Manuel Martinez was arrested following the crash on North Menominee Road, approximately one-tenth of a mile north of West Meadow Lane.
At approximately 8:14 pm, the Jo Daviess County Dispatch Center received a 911 call through a crash detection system, alerting authorities to the incident. Deputies arrived on the scene to find a black Ford Explorer in the east-side ditch, having rolled over after striking a culvert. The vehicle, with airbag deployment, had come to rest on all four tires, facing southbound, but no one was located in the vehicle.

Martinez, the driver who was not found at the scene initially, was later located and transported by Galena EMS to Midwest Medical Center in Galena, for medical attention.
Further investigation revealed that Martinez had been operating the vehicle northbound on North Menominee Road when the crash occurred. Deputies cited Martinez for several violations, including Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, No Valid Driver's License, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
Martinez was arrested and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Galena Police Department, Galena EMS, Menominee-Dunleith Fire Department, and Guys Towing.
