Kennedy Mall Confirms New Retailer & Current Stores Reshuffle
A new retail chain store will be introduced at the Kennedy Mall in the coming months.
HomeGoods will open in Kennedy Mall in the next 12 months according to a report from the Telegraph Herald and mall spokesman Joe Bell. The HomeGoods store will occupy a 24,217 square foot space next to HuHot Mongolian Grill. The current BAM location will be expanded by 4 bordering storefronts that are currently empty to make additional room for the finished HomeGoods location.
"It's always important to bring in popular retailers, and this is one of those out there. It will be part of the reshuffling we're doing at the facility. The process, especially for larger spaces and larger stores as HomeGoods, can be a several-year process. We undergo these discussions with a lot of these retailers all of the time. It was just a matter of time to bring the HomeGoods brand to Dubuque."
-Joe Bell, Kennedy Mall Spokesman
Books-A-Million will be moving to a new 12,212 square foot space where Younkers used to be. The store will only take up a fraction of the 70,000 square feet previously used by the Younkers women's store. That Younkers mall area was vacated in the summer of 2018, and the space has sat empty ever since. The former store was last used as a Dubuque County COVID-19 vaccination site in 2021. Captured on Canvas has also recently relocated to a larger location across from Bath and Body Works.
According to reports, work to create the store spaces for HomeGoods and Books-A-Million is currently underway, but an exact opening/reopening date will be determined in the following months, with more information to be released by Kennedy Mall.
