The Protectors Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club are holding a benefit ride tomorrow (Saturday August 28) for Garret Schuster. Garret is a 13 year old eighth grader at Drexler Middle School in Dyersville.

At just 9 months old Garret was diagnosed with a bleeding disorder. As time went on, doctors at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital unfortunately found that Garret has not only one bleeding disorder, but 5 different bleeding disorders. This makes it so that Garret's blood does not clot. Garret's blood disorders presently have no cure. He must undergo multiple infusions, treatments, medications, and doctor visits each month to manage his illness. He is currently waiting for a bone marrow donor match for a stem cell transplant. In September he will undergo surgery to have his spleen removed in hopes that this will buy time until a donor match is found. If you would like to see if you could be a possible match please visit bethematch.org

Registration for tomorrow's Benefit Ride will be at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds from 8:30am-10:30am with an entry fee of $15 per person. The ride will stop in Guttenberg, Strawberry Point and Dyersville. A BBQ dinner will be included. This benefit will also feature a 50/50 raffle.
