Hi everyone, Tom Drake here! I want to take a moment to talk about a great annual event that's taking place across the state of Iowa and the nation as a whole: Scouting America and their annual popcorn sales. As many of you know, Scouting plays an essential role in building character, leadership, and life skills for young people, and popcorn sales are a big part of supporting those efforts.

Steve Pulaski and I have now had the pleasure of working with Melissa Neuhaus, who’s actively involved with Scouting America and the Northeast Iowa Council specifically for two years during our tasting event. Check out the full tasting segment with Melissa below:

You can contact Melissa and the Northeast Iowa Chapter by calling (563) 556-4343 or at their location: 10601 Military Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003.

Seeing firsthand how these sales fuel not only exciting activities, but also opportunities for Scouts to grow and develop makes it even easier to purchase this amazing popcorn. It's a great cause and a delicious snack. Now, these popcorn sales go beyond just raising money; they teach the Scouts valuable lessons about hard work, responsibility, and goal-setting. Popcorn sales begin September 21st and run through October 20th of 2024.

Why Scout Popcorn Sales Matter

Popcorn sales are one of the primary fundraising efforts for Scouting America, helping fund everything from summer camps to uniforms and essential supplies. Every box or bag of popcorn sold directly benefits local scouts and their programs, ensuring that no child misses out on what scouting has to offer because of financial barriers.

These sales help scouts learn important life skills like budgeting, communication, and leadership, all while setting personal goals and working hard to meet them. It’s an invaluable experience that goes hand in hand with the adventure, teamwork, and community service that Scouting is all about.

By purchasing popcorn from our scouts, you're doing much more than satisfying your snack cravings. You're making an investment in the future leaders of our community. Whether you choose the classic buttered popcorn, the sweet caramel variety, or any of the other flavors, every purchase helps scouts engage in experiences that will shape them for years to come. And you know it's good popcorn when it comes from the Pecatonica River Popcorn company.

These funds help scouts attend educational programs, high-adventure activities, and service projects that give back to our local community. Bonus, with prices ranging from $15 to $60 dollars there is a perfect treat waiting for you at the perfect price. It’s an awesome win-win situation!

If you’re interested in supporting the scouts during their popcorn sales, be sure to keep an eye out for booths in your area or scouts going door-to-door. You can also reach out to Scouting America for more information on how you can purchase popcorn or make a donation as well searching for local scouts to buy from online.
