I grew up in the fairly small community of Monticello, IA on a rural farm closer to Anamosa (Langworthy to be exact). One interesting detail about both of those communities is that no matter which way my father and I went on 151, we were sure to end up at a Theisen's for something that needed doing on the farm where I grew up, not far from shooting star road.

Today I'll actually be on location at a Theisen's store front in the city where it all started. According to their website, Theisen’s Battery & Electric, was founded by Leo and Kathryn Theisen, and was located on 8th Street in Dubuque, Iowa in 1927. Inside the small two-story brick building there were only 2 items for sale: batteries and tires. As needs changed, the stores selection expanded. Did you know that by providing these essential items, the business was able to survive The Great Depression and World War II. As the family business approaches its 100-year anniversary (2027), you can be assured that they have stayed true to the values that have made them successful.

Today at Theisen's, they are proud to not only offer you tires and batteries, but also thousands of other products for your home, farm, and automotive needs. I remember that my dad and I almost always walked out of the store with some form of candy to go with our bigger farm purchases. Strawberry Twizzlers or Brach's Chocolate Stars were the currency of the day for a hard-working farm kid. But I digress. We're at Theisen's today because they are so incredibly active throughout our community and the state.

This weekend (April 1st & 2nd) is the Theisen's Snocross National at Sundown Mountain! This is the last race of the season; so, it's your last chance to see professional racers battle for titles, and a strong finish to their campaign! And this family friendly event is great, high-speed fun with tons to enjoy; fireworks, vendors, pro autograph sessions, and loads more.
