New Free Games Every Month; Check Your Platform!
Everyone loves free games! It's one of the reasons I subscribe to Xbox Gold and many others take on ultimate with a huge library at their finger tips. A new month, means new free games so what's on offer for October;
Sony has officially announced the free PlayStation Plus games for October 2022, with next month's offerings consisting of three titles in total. While there have been some exceptions to the rule, Sony generally announces the new free PlayStation Plus games on the last Wednesday of each month, with the titles set to be added on the first Tuesday of the following month.
PlayStation Plus Free Games for October 2022
- Hot Wheels Unleashed (PS4/PS5)
- Injustice 2 (PS4)
- Superhot (PS4)
So a decent enough racing game, in Hot Wheels Unleashed, originally received mixed reviews. Nothing done here to "reinvent the wheel" just a classic racing simulator.
A legit fighter from NetherRealm studios in Injustice 2, that pits some of DC Comics' most famous heroes and villains against one another. This is the big winner across all lists. It garnered B- to A- grades by reviewers when it was first released and features a very interesting story.
And finally, Superhot; a first-person shooter with a puzzle-solving gimmick based on movement. It's high-speed, high-stakes game play on this unique shooter.
Xbox gets in on the action with 2 free games each month a part of their Games with Gold programming for Gold Members. This month games include;
- Windbound – October 1 – October 31
- Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition – October 16 – November 15
Windbound is an adventure game set on the Forbidden Islands featuring a female protagonist. It receive mixed reviews, but anyone who likes survival-adventure games should give it a go.
Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition is a strategy sim set during World War II. That being said though, Bomber Crew is appropriate for kids, so it'll be a good one for kids to rotate in to gaming time this next month.
While Nintendo doesn't currently offer monthly free games it does offer Nintendo Classics through different emulator style aps (NES, SNES) on the Switch and have recently released their Nintendo Power Podcast 53 which outlines their fall games guide. You can check that out here.
I would say it looks like Sony and the PlayStation win this month on game selection, offering a higher rated standard of games across their free service.
