
One Dead in Jackson County Head-On Collision — Name Released
A head-on collision on Iowa 64 on January 20th claimed the life of one driver and left two others injured. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:07 pm near mile marker 27, just outside Maquoketa, when a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling eastbound crossed the center line and collided with a westbound Ford 350.
The driver of the Jeep, 48-year-old Terry J. Gurley of Cascade, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Iowa State Patrol reported that the Jeep came to rest in a nearby ditch, while the Ford 350, driven by 27-year-old Kyle L. Harland of Maquoketa, and his passenger, 22-year-old Megann L. Post, also of Maquoketa, came to a stop on the north shoulder of the road.

Both Harland and Post sustained injuries and took themselves to the Jackson County Regional Health Center for medical treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the nature or severity of their injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Authorities have yet to release further details on the cause of the crash, though they have confirmed that the eastbound Jeep's crossing of the center line was the cause for the head-on collision.
