It has finally warmed up some so my wife and I have once again started walking our usual path around Cascade. During the walk however, we decided to stop by the Corner Taproom to try out their Monday special; a charcuterie pairing to accompany a flight of their awesome beers.

My wife and I try to get in once every couple of months just to try out the new concoctions and brews that have been added to the 20 different taps.

I am a big IPA fan, so my flight consisted of several breweries, Textile, Lion Bridge, and the Iowa Brewers Guild. My favorite beer of the day coming from Thew Brewing. The Onyx Dragon New England IPA is a sure winner. Super good. And the 5-sample flight was perfect with salami, pepperoni, spicy and mild cheeses, nuts, and olives! All the cheeses come from just down the street in Cascade at Butch and Frankie's Home Goods.

My wife loves sours and lighter, fruited beers. Her pick of the day was from 5ive Cities Brewing and, for those sponge bob fans out there, it was called the Bikini Bottom Pineapple Wheat. That "Blue" drink at the end of her board is a "Jacked UP" cider from Crimson Sunset, another local made favorite.

It was still a little windy out so we decided to stay in doors at the bar, but our plan is to stop back in one weekend when there is live music and it’s a bit nicer so we can enjoy their patio seating and the firepit table.

And you can also walk next door to enjoy Happy Joe’s Pizza with your brews. On your way up the ramp to Happy Joe’s check out the mural of classic downtown Cascade (seen below).

We were helped on the evening by Sammie Simon. Super friendly and easy to talk to; Sammie is the manager not only in Cascade, but at what I would call home base for the owners of the Corner Taproom, Textile Brewing Company in Dyersville. Zach Nothdorf owns and operates both locations and has recently opened a new, third location in Atkins.

So ended a nice evening trying out some new brews and meeting new people. Overall and uneventful Monday, ended up as a pretty nice little date night. Great company, good drinks, and a fun atmosphere are easy to find at the Corner Taproom.
