Rain Doesn’t Deter Galena Wine Fest
With the Summer Solstice marking the official start of the season, it is with great happiness that the temps and the overall weather are becoming more enjoyable.
As I settle into my midwest life, I am reminded daily how dynamic and exciting the weather patterns can be. It's further enhanced every weekday morning at 6:30 am when I chat with longtime WJOD Meteorologist Karl Klopotic.
I, along with listeners of the Good Morning Rodeo, tune in for Karl's keen insights into all things weather and midwestern living.
I've been lucky to live in multiple climates and learned to appreciate how that can affect day-to-day living in each locale. Therefore, I'm also more appreciative of Karl's daily updates to better go with the flow regarding the weather.
Such as it was on Saturday with rain dampening things early in the a.m. and cloudy skies causing concern for what the day might bring. But by mid-afternoon, the rain let up, and people got on with their weekend plans.
I had a remote broadcast at the Q Casino Backwater's Stage. I saw and reported on the crew setting up the evening's concert with Chase Rice.
From there, it was off to Galena to run some errands. I saw tents and people at Depot Park, so I had to investigate the festivities at what I learned was the Annual Corkless in Galena Wine Festival.
By the time of my arrival, it was getting late in the day, so I first had to sweet talk my way past two of the toughest security guards to let me in the gate for free! Facebook.com/CorklessGalena
From there, it was clear to see that even a rainy overcast day was still a fine time to enjoy terrific local wine, music, art, and food. massbachridge.com
So weather notwithstanding, midwest living means enjoying life no matter what mother nature sends you.
My articles are an ongoing effort to learn more about my hometown and midwestern roots. I invite you to follow along and discover the many happenings in the Driftless Area and Tri-States.
I met landscape artist Jenna Lueck and I'm reminded and like to share that it is a never-ending adventure with good people doing extraordinary things no matter what the weather may bring! JennaLueckArt.com
