Saints Carve Black Hawks For Big Rivalry Win
The Saints finished up an 8-game road trip for the beginning of the season with a 5-2 victory over the Black Hawks. Their current record from this heavy away game schedule finished 4-3-1 and are currently sitting 6th in the Eastern Conference.
The game looked to be quite tight on the evening with a scoreless first period finished up. But a flurry of goals in the second took the saints on a march to victory. 2 unanswered goals, scored within a minute of each other, started out the 2nd period. This was followed by a third from Riley Stuart, before the Blackhawks pulled one back. The period rapped up with Burkholder grabbing his 2nd goal of the season to make it 4-1.
Both teams split the final period for a final score of 5-2 in favor of our Dubuque Fighting Saints. On the evening, the Saints were outshot 31 to 24, with both teams splitting power play wins at 1 each; the Black Hawks having 5 chances, and the Saints with 2.
