Dubuque Fighting Saints Forward Commits to Union College
According to a press release from the Dubuque Fighting Saints, forward Jacob Jeannette has announced his commitment to continue his hockey career and education at Union College. The USHL veteran is in his first year with the Fighting Saints. and is currently in a patch of fine form compiling four points (two goals, two assists) and a +3 rating over his last three games.
“I chose Union because I’m really looking forward to what coaches Josh Hauge, Jennie Childs and John Ronan are building over there. Along with an amazing opportunity to attend a historic school in a new part of the country for me. It’s a very exciting adventure, I’m looking forward to. The recruitment process has been long, but I couldn’t be happier with the way it’s turned out and this opportunity at Union.”

The Fighting Saints acquired Jeannette this summer from the Waterloo Black Hawks in exchange for future draft picks. In three years with the Black Hawks (2019-2022), he compiled 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 108 games played. He was named an alternate captain in his final season (2021-22) in Waterloo. In 11 games with the Fighting Saints, Jeannette has six points on three goals and three assists and six penalty minutes.

Jeannette, who was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota hasn’t had to go far from home thus far in his hockey career. The move to Union will take him nearly 1,200 miles from his hometown to join the Dutchmen. Union is coming off their third weekend of ECAC conference play and currently sit with a 5-8-1 record under Hauge who is in his first season as head coach of the Dutchmen.
