“I chose Union because I’m really looking forward to what coaches Josh Hauge, Jennie Childs and John Ronan are building over there. Along with an amazing opportunity to attend a historic school in a new part of the country for me. It’s a very exciting adventure, I’m looking forward to. The recruitment process has been long, but I couldn’t be happier with the way it’s turned out and this opportunity at Union.”

-Dubuque Fighting Saints Forward, Jacob Jeannette

The Fighting Saints acquired Jeannette this summer from the Waterloo Black Hawks in exchange for future draft picks. In three years with the Black Hawks (2019-2022), he compiled 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 108 games played. He was named an alternate captain in his final season (2021-22) in Waterloo. In 11 games with the Fighting Saints, Jeannette has six points on three goals and three assists and six penalty minutes.

“So far, Jacob has demonstrated the qualities we expected when trading for him this summer. He brings a veteran presence, an excellent work ethic, and ability to help out on the score sheet. His stick-to-it-iveness has rewarded him with a college opportunity. We are happy for him and his family on committing to Union!”

-Fighting Saints General Manager and President of Hockey Operations, Kalle Larsson.

Jeannette, who was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota hasn’t had to go far from home thus far in his hockey career. The move to Union will take him nearly 1,200 miles from his hometown to join the Dutchmen. Union is coming off their third weekend of ECAC conference play and currently sit with a 5-8-1 record under Hauge who is in his first season as head coach of the Dutchmen.

“We’re excited for Jacob. He’s earned this opportunity with his hard work. He’s been a great addition to our organization since the trade this summer. He’s going to continue to improve and contribute for us throughout the season.”

-Saints Head Coach, Kirk MacDonald
