Saints Point Leader, Ryan St. Louis, Commits To Brown University
According to a press release from the organization, Dubuque Fighting Saints first year forward Ryan St. Louis has announced his decision to continue his hockey and educational career with the Brown University Bears.
St. Louis joined the Fighting Saints this season after being selected in the first round, 12th overall, of the 2022 Phase II USHL Draft. From the get-go, St. Louis has led the team offensively. He has tallied 20 goals, 33 assists for 53 total points, all of which are current team highs. On a league wide scale, he ranks inside the top 10 in points (10th), assists (6th), power play assists (8th), and shooting % (9th).
“Brown made the most sense. I guess it’s just a feeling. The whole coaching staff there made me feel welcome, and I can see myself making an impact there. Obviously, it being an Ivy League school is a plus. I’m just happy I found a good combination between academics and hockey.”
-Ryan St. Louis, Dubuque Fighting Saints Forward
St. Louis spent last season in the NCAA at Northeastern University where he appeared in 38 contests. Prior to that, he spent a pair of seasons with the United States National Team Development Program competing against international, collegiate, and USHL competition.
“Ryan St. Louis has been such a great addition to our team this year. Coming back to the USHL from college, it would have been easy for him to just check a box and go through the motions; but Ryan has been 100% bought in from day one. We are thrilled that Ryan has decided to continue his career at Brown and we congratulate him and his family on this decision. His play on the ice speaks for itself. But what he does off the ice has been equally remarkable. His preparation for practices and games sets an example for other players and he is someone our younger guys can look to for advice.”
-Kalle Larsson, Fighting Saints President of Hockey Operations and General Manager
As a member of the Fighting Saints, St. Louis quickly established himself as a leader on and off the ice and was named an alternate captain after training camp. St. Louis is the son of Stanley Cup winner and current Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis. His younger brother, Lucas, is also in his first season with the Fighting Saints.
Brown University is an Ivy League school located in Providence, Rhode Island. The Bears play in the ECAC Hockey conference and are led by head coach Brendan Whittet. Brown finished the 2022-23 season with a record of 9-18-3.
