Saints Take 3 Points Home from Muskegon; Look To Big Games Vs Youngstown & Chicago
Saints stole points away from home this past weekend on back-to-back overtime matches against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Friday, March 10th saw our Saints pull ahead early only to be caught in the 3rd to send it to overtime. On the evening Saints outshot the Muskegon Lumberjacks 36 to 25 and capitalized on 3 of their total 6 powerplay attempts. The Saints lockdown all powerplay attempts from the lumberjacks making them 0-6 on the evening. Burkholder, Sondreal, and Montes continuing their fine run of form.
Saturday night saw the Saints battle back throughout the evening to push for an overtime loss and steal another point on the road.
The Dubuque Fighting Saints may feel slightly hard done by this overtime loss. They seemed dominant enough throughout the match-up, outshooting Muskegon 41 to 25 on the night. However, the Saints failed to capitalize on any of their 5 powerplay attempts; although, they were able to shut down all the Lumberjacks powerplay attempts for a second night in a row.
After managing to scramble 3 out of 4 total points on the road the Saints now sit on 56 points, just 10 short of the 1st placed Chicago Steel who we play this Saturday aways from home.
